Düden Waterfalls (Lower Düden Sea Cascade)
Fed by subterranean karst aquifers originating in the Taurus Mountains, the Düden River flows southward across the Antalya plain before arriving at one of the world’s most spectacular coastal precipices: Lower Düden Falls (Aşağı Düden Şelalesi, also known as Karpuzkaldıran). Here, the roaring freshwater river plunges 40 meters (131 feet) off sheer vertical limestone sea cliffs directly into the Mediterranean Sea. Surrounding the cliff precipice is Düden Coastal Park, featuring manicured seaside walking paths, shaded picnic lawns, and scenic observation platforms that extend right to the cliff's edge. The immense volume of crashing water generates perpetual prismatic rainbows arching through the sea spray. Pleasure yachts and pirate-themed cruise boats anchor in the turquoise cove below, allowing passengers to feel the cool freshwater mist contrasting against the salty Mediterranean breeze.
“A spectacular natural torrent where the Düden River plunges 40 meters off towering coastal cliffs directly into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea.”
