Ölüdeniz Blue Lagoon & Mount Babadağ Paragliding
Regarded as one of the most photographed beaches in the Mediterranean, Ölüdeniz (meaning 'Dead Sea', in reference to its placid, unruffled waters even during storms) is a paradise where the turquoise waters of the Aegean meet the Mediterranean. The coastline features a crescent of white pebble beach that terminates in a curved sandspit enclosing the famous Blue Lagoon (Mavi Lagün), a protected national nature reserve characterized by astonishingly calm, translucent waters shifting from jade green to deep aquamarine. Looming directly over the bay is Mount Babadağ, soaring precipitously from sea level to 1,969 meters (6,460 feet). Thanks to optimal thermals and towering sea cliffs, Babadağ is globally recognized as the premier tandem paragliding destination on Earth. Paragliders launch from mountain summits and glide for thirty minutes in gentle spirals over the entire peninsula, drinking in bird's-eye views of the lagoon before touching down softly along the beachfront promenade.
“Turkey's world-famous idyllic Blue Lagoon, bordered by a powdery white sandspit and backed by the soaring paragliding launchpads of Mount Babadağ.”
