Snoopy Island & Al Aqah Beach
Situated just 100 meters off the golden sands of Al Aqah Beach on the East Coast of Fujairah, Snoopy Island (officially known as Jazirat Al Ghubbah) is the undisputed marine and diving capital of the United Arab Emirates. The rocky islet earned its famous moniker due to its striking resemblance to Charles Schulz's cartoon beagle Snoopy lying on his back with his snout and paws pointing skyward. Surrounded by the deep, nutrient-rich waters of the Gulf of Oman, Snoopy Island is encircled by vibrant coral gardens thriving with marine biodiversity. Snorkelers and scuba divers routinely encounter gentle green and hawksbill sea turtles, harmless blacktip reef sharks, eagle rays, moray eels, and schools of yellowfin tuna, clownfish, and parrotfish. Al Aqah Beach itself offers a relaxed, unhurried seaside atmosphere flanked by the dramatic peaks of the Hajar Mountains meeting the ocean waters, with five-star luxury dive resorts and water-sports centers dotting the shore.
“The premier snorkeling and scuba diving haven in the UAE, famous for its marine turtle sanctuary and vibrant coral reefs on the Gulf of Oman.”
