Bait Al Zubair Heritage Museum
Located in the historic quarter of Old Muscat near Bab Al Kabir, Bait Al Zubair was originally a private townhouse founded in 1914 by Sheikh Al Zubair bin Ali, advisor to three former Sultans. Converted into an exquisite private ethnographic museum in 1998, the complex spans multiple restored heritage residences including Bait Al Bagh, Bait Al Dalaleel, Bait Al Oud, and Bait Al Nahdhah. The museumβs world-renowned collection houses the finest private assortment of Omani silver khanjars, heirloom Bedouin jewelry, traditional regional dress, antique firearms, nautical maps, and historical manuscripts. The central garden features an authentic reconstruction of a rural Omani village complete with traditional palm-frond barasti dwellings, an operational falaj water channel, and an art gallery showcasing works by contemporary Omani visual artists.
βA private ethnographic treasure in Old Muscat showcasing centuries of Omani weaponry, tribal costumes, silver jewelry, and architectural heritage.β
