Nizwa Fort & The Heritage Silver Souq

Built over twelve years by Imam Sultan bin Saif Al Ya'rubi, Nizwa Fort was designed to withstand prolonged cannon bombardment. Its maze of secret escape shafts, murder holes for boiling date syrup, and panoramic battlements overlook date palm oases and the adjacent bustling silver souq where craftsmen forge classic Omani Khanjars (daggers).
