Wadi Shab Emerald Pools & Secret Waterfall Cave
Carving a dramatic fissure through the coastal plateau of Tiwi between Muscat and Sur, Wadi Shab is celebrated globally as one of the most exhilarating freshwater canyon adventures on Earth. The expedition begins with a brief local motorized boat crossing across the river mouth, followed by a scenic 45-minute trek through towering ochre limestone gorge walls, date palm orchards, and natural rock bridges. As the gorge narrows, crystal-clear emerald-green freshwater pools emerge between polished boulders. Travelers swim through three successive freshwater pools of refreshing mountain water. The climax awaits at the final pool, where swimmers navigate through a dramatic head-level rock crack in the cavern wall to emerge inside an enclosed subterranean cathedral illuminated by a sunlit skylight, with a rushing waterfall cascading directly into the secret grotto pool.
