Ajman Corniche & Historic Dhow Yard
Stretching over four sweeping kilometers along the Arabian Gulf, the Ajman Corniche is the vibrant outdoor social and recreational heart of the emirate. Lined with landscaped walkways, shaded palm groves, alfresco cafes, and five-star beachfront hotels, the Corniche offers unobstructed sea views and golden sand beaches popular for swimming and watersports. Just inland along Ajman Creek lies the Ajman Dhow Yard, historically renowned as the largest active wooden boatbuilding yard in the world. Here, generational master craftsmen (galaf) continue the ancient art of hand-building traditional wooden dhows without blueprints, using techniques passed down orally over centuries. Visitors can watch massive timber hulls being constructed from imported teak and local wood using handmade tools, creating everything from small coastal fishing boats to giant ocean-going cargo dhows that trade across the Indian Ocean.
