Ajman Museum & Al Murabba Watchtower
Centrally positioned in the historical district of Ajman, the Ajman Museum is housed in one of the most beautifully restored 18th-century fortresses in the UAE. Originally constructed around 1775, the fort served as the residence of the ruling Al Nuaimi family, the administrative headquarters of the government, and the primary military defense post of the emirate until 1970. Built from local marine coral stone and baked gypsum with ceilings supported by imported Chandal wood beams, the fortress features two commanding watchtowers and two grand brass cannons flanking the entrance gate. Inside, carefully curated galleries present an exceptional survey of regional history: rare 3,000-year-old archaeological finds from the Mowaihat burial tomb, historical manuscripts, traditional weaponry, an authentic pearl grading laboratory, and detailed dioramas reconstructing historic Emirati pearl diving and desert life.
