Al Noor Mosque & Al Noor Island
Overlooking the tranquil waters of Khalid Lagoon in central Sharjah, Al Noor Mosque is widely regarded as one of the most elegant houses of worship in the Emirates. Designed in the classical Turkish Ottoman style reminiscent of Istanbul's Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the structure is crowned by 34 cascading domes, two soaring 52-meter minarets, and intricate interior calligraphy quoting verses from the Holy Qur'an. Directly adjacent, connected by a pedestrian footbridge, lies Al Noor Islandβa magical urban nature and arts sanctuary. Designed by Austrian architectural firm 3deluxe, the island is lushly planted with over 70,000 trees and exotic plants. At the heart of the island stands the award-winning Butterfly House, sheltered within an organic titanium-and-glass canopy resembling a blooming flower, where hundreds of tropical butterfly species flutter freely. Shaded wooden walkways meander past modern outdoor sculptures by world-renowned artists, peaceful reading pavilions, and waterfront cafes.
