Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR)
Covering nearly five percent of Dubai's total land area, the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR) is a sovereign ecological sanctuary dedicated to preserving the fragile beauty and biodiversity of the Arabian desert ecosystem. Enclosed to protect against encroaching urbanization, the reserve features rolling golden dunes, desert scrublands, and native Ghaf tree groves. Through dedicated captive breeding and reintroduction programs, the DDCR has successfully restored thriving populations of the Arabian oryx—the iconic white antelope that was once nearly extinct in the wild. Visitors can also spot Arabian gazelles, Sand gazelles, Gordon's wildcats, and dozens of migratory bird species. Access is strictly controlled to maintain ecological integrity. Visitors explore via low-impact eco-safaris, sunset camel caravans, dune-top stargazing with resident astronomers, and luxury Bedouin-style banquets under the crystal-clear desert canopy.
“The UAE's first designated national park, protecting 225 square kilometers of pristine Arabian desert dunes and thriving wildlife.”
