Al-Soudah Peak & Asir National Park Cloud Forest
Towering 3,015 meters above sea level in the Sarawat mountain range near Abha, Al-Soudah is the highest geographical peak in Saudi Arabia. Clad in dense, fragrant juniper forests and moss-covered rock ledges, the summit enjoys a temperate, misty alpine climate that contrasts dramatically with the arid desert plains of the Arabian interior. Throughout the summer months, while the rest of the peninsula experiences scorching temperatures, Al-Soudah remains enveloped in cool clouds, mountain rains, and refreshing breezes with temperatures rarely exceeding 25°C. Hiking trails trace the edge of vertical escarpments where travelers can gaze down thousands of meters into the subtropical Tihama foothills below. The ongoing Soudah Peaks masterplan is elevating the region into a global luxury mountain eco-tourism destination. Visitors can ride the mountain cable car, zipline across deep pine valleys, paraglide in thermals, or relax in outdoor cafes overlooking valleys cloaked in swirling white fog.
