Ras Mohammed National Marine Park
Positioned at the extreme southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, Ras Mohammed National Park protects one of the planet's most pristine and biologically diverse marine ecosystems. Formed by elevated fossil coral reefs rising up to sixty meters above the waterline, this protected sanctuary encompasses turquoise lagoons, mangrove canals, and sheer underwater precipices that drop steeply into deep pelagic waters where rich currents fuel an explosion of marine life. Below the surface, world-renowned diving sites such as Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef showcase dramatic vertical drop-offs encrusted in vibrant soft corals, massive gorgonian sea fans, and giant anemones. Schools of barracuda, jackfish, and pelagic rays glide effortlessly through crystal-clear waters where visibility regularly exceeds forty meters. On land, the terrestrial park offers hauntingly beautiful desert terrain, the high-salinity Magic Lake where visitors float without effort, and an ancient earthquake fissure now filled with crystalline seawater. Whether exploring as a dedicated scuba diver, snorkeling off the shallow reef flats of Marsa Bareika, or simply watching the desert sun set over the Sinai mountains from the Shark Observatory cliff, Ras Mohammed delivers an ecological sanctuary of raw, untouched majesty.
“Egypt's premier marine sanctuary, where the crystal waters of the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba converge.”
