Bandar Khayran Fjords & Secluded Coves
Located just 25 kilometers southeast of Muscat along the rugged coastal highway, Bandar Khayran is a dramatic geological wonderland often called the mini-fjords of Oman. Here, the foothills of the Hajar Mountains plummet directly into the crystalline azure waters of the Sea of Oman, forming an intricate maze of secluded coves, saltwater inlets, mangrove channels, and sandspit islands. The protected bays are a paradise for sea kayakers, snorkelers, and scuba divers. The coral reefs teem with marine life, including Arabian butterflyfish, hawksbill turtles, and playful pods of spinner dolphins frequently sighted outside the bay mouths. Overlooking the fjords are rugged hiking trails offering sweeping panoramic vistas of the serpentine waterways contrasting against copper-toned jagged desert peaks.
“A breathtaking coastal fjordscape of arid limestone cliffs, hidden turquoise lagoons, and pristine coral reefs located southeast of Muscat.”
