Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization
Housed in the majestic former Souk Al Majarrah along the tranquil waters of Sharjah Creek, the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is one of the premier institutions dedicated to Islamic history, faith, and scientific innovation in the world. Crowned by a shimmering central dome tiled in deep gold and turquoise, the building is an architectural landmark in its own right. The museum's collections exceed 5,000 priceless artifacts displayed across six spacious thematic galleries. The Abu Bakr Gallery of Islamic Faith exhibits rare Qur'anic manuscripts, models of holy mosques, and a magnificent 17th-century embroidered curtain from the door of the Ka'aba. Meanwhile, the Science and Technology Gallery illuminates the extraordinary inventions of Islamic scholars in astronomy, navigation, mathematics, and medicine. Four additional galleries present an exhaustive survey of Islamic arts, from early Umayyad and Abbasid pottery and glass to intricate Ottoman weapons and Mughal jewelry.
“A world-renowned museum housed in a majestic souk along Sharjah Creek, holding over 5,000 historic treasures of Islamic art and science.”
