Sharjah Art Museum
Located in the historic Al Shuwaiheen arts district of Sharjah, the Sharjah Art Museum is one of the largest and most prestigious fine art museums in the Middle East. Opened in 1997, the three-story museum comprises 64 distinct galleries spanning over 111,000 square meters. The museum's permanent collection constitutes a historic archive of modern and contemporary Arab art, displaying paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works by pioneering Arab masters including Abdul Qader Al Rais, Louay Kayyali, Inji Efflatoun, and Fateh Moudarres. The Orientalist Collection features 18th- and 19th-century paintings, aquatints, and lithographs by European travelers documenting the landscapes, cities, and cultures of the Middle East. Serving as a primary venue for the Sharjah Biennial, the museum regularly hosts major international traveling exhibitions, scholarly lectures, and community art workshops.
โOne of the largest art institutions in the Gulf, home to world-class permanent collections of modern Arab art and 18th-century Orientalist masterworks.โ
